I was going to comment in the new charcoal grill thread, but my incident involves a gas grill. Being the start of summer and with everyone grilling more, i thought i'd throw this out there
Didnt feel like preparing any food yesterday, so asked the wife to drop by one of the "Take N Bake" pizza places (Papa Murphy's in this case) to pick up a pizza for the evening. She got home with it and i remembered an article in a gourmet cooking magazine i read ........ then i looked at the grill, then back at the pizza. hmmmmmmmmmmm Pizza..grille. Grille- pizza.
Let the gas grill preheat to about 350 degrees , put the pizza on a pan and presto --- grilled pizza in 8 minutes Here is where i think a gas grill has an advantage over charcoal -- being able to regulate the temperature easier
but even with a gas grill, it gives it a slight smoky flavor that was just awesome, so i recommend to anyone to try it sometime. I wont say its any better or any worse than doing it in the oven, but it added a new element to pizza night and was enjoyed by all.
OT: Grilled Pizza-give it a try sometime

Glad it worked out! My biggest problem with cooking that (or anything on the grill) --- is once i get it up to operating temperature (around 400 or so) --- i tend to peek too much --- lifting the lid loses 50 degrees each time !
I'm skipping pizza tonight, but i still have time to implement the cold beer strategy

We do that frequently. Anything and EVERYTHING tastes better from the grill!

I've got a Coleman combination stove/grill that I just might try this out on. Did you spray anything on the grill to prevent the pizza sticking to the grill?
ETA: I just saw the "pan" part.

We use a Traeger wood pellet BBQ and have been doing Pizzas for quite awhile. The mesquite pellets give it a very tasty flavor.
