OT - Now I need some BIG PRAYERS

My problems at work recently now seem so small in comparison.

My cousin's wife - only 39 years old - just found out she has breast cancer in both breasts and needs a double mastectomy. Sorry to hit the well again so soon, but I'd much rather you all be praying about this than for me and my insignificant problems.

Please drop a prayer for Lara, her husband Doug, and their children. My prayers are that the doctors can get all the cancer, that it has gone no further, and that they can start the healing process.

Prayers up, for her and the other FOUR under-40 patients I've had just since Christmas who we've found breast cancer in. We're finding it sooner, which is good (way better cure rates) but the young women just say they're too busy to self-check, and many I've seen had NP's or doctors who really didn't succeed in teaching them worth a darn how to do it, so they sort of randomly feel around, get overwhelmed, scared, and frusturated - and give up.

I'm convinced it is occurring at younger ages, and have some ideas why, but the 'public health' crowd hasn't done much about it.

Fellas, be SURE your wives, daughters, moms, sisters, etc., commit to actually DOING those self exams, and seeing a decent physician every year. They may still get the cancer, but early diagnosis really helps. Put a little calendar on the bathroom mirror where they'll see it every day, and circle every fourth wednesday or something so she'll not forget. (Put a wide-eyeballed picture of YOU on the calendar if you want to make her smile...

One of every eight women you know WILL get a breast cancer . . . . and that's if it DOESN'T run in their family.

One of our female TV local news readers had a double mastectomy a few years back and made a full recovery. She also made a documentary of her reconstruction surgery, she still reads the news and looks great.

This is the great thing about our group here,there is a young mother in our church that has won a four year battle with cancer and now her hair is growing out and has a very happy husband and two fine little cowboys.
We will prayer for your family just like we did for the rest that go through this.
