Guess who sat behind me at dinner!

Post by RIHMFIRE »

Well....I was in Atlanta for the past couple of days visiting my construction site...
and on Wednesday my client and I went out to an Italian
restaurant for dinner... I wish I could remember the name of the
place... it was awesome.....but I was to busy checking out the hostest....
she was a 12...no...a 13 at least .....anyway....
While we were eating, this guy and his family came in
and sat right behind us...his chair was back to back to mine.....
I never did turn around to see them until we left...
Looked right over the top of this guy....Smiled...Said good-bye
to the owner, the chef, the waiter....and the 12...no the 13
and walked out the door....My client comes over to me.....and says...
Do you know who you were sitting behind....less than 2 feet away...
Tom Selleck.... :o :o
You dont know how bad i wanted to go back in there
and talk leverguns and hunting with him....But I was a good boy
and let him eat in peace with his family....He is one of my favorites....
TBS is stationed in Atlanta.....and there could be a new movie in the works...
I hope so....

Last year we stayed in a high rise hotel....and i was lucky enough
to get one of the best rooms in the joint, on the top floor...
over looking Buckhead...a very high dollar area of Atlanta....
and when we came back from dinner there was a very expensive
motor coach in the driveway.....Didnt think anything of it...
cause we see them all the time back home....
Well.... when I met the guys for breakfast in the penthouse
My client asked me how i liked sleeping next to Stevie Nicks.... :o :o :o
she was in the room right next to me.....Never did see her either!

I think if I heard Tom Selleck say anything I'd recognize who it was. I'd like to be able to at least shake his hand and thank him to trying to keep the western life in the movies.

That is cool. And reminds me of a year or two ago when I was eating down in Portlant, OR at Saylors Steak House. I wasn't paying to much attention and all the sudden I hear a voice behind me that I would recognize anywhere in the world. Sam Elliot was sitting right behind me. I sat there and enjoyed my steak 1000X more just listening to his voice.

Unreal.

I had a shootin' day with Selleck a number of years ago. It was at the Sacramento Shooting Range and the occasion was the BP cartridge rifle championships. He was shooting a '74 Sharps in 45-110, I believe. A .40-65 Highwall took the day. Lotta smoke in the air that afternoon.

Can you imagine how much he loves the NRA and(gun freedom?)
See below:
Kayne Robinson, Executive Director of NRA General Operations, added, "Tom Selleck is a very astute judge of firearms, and this is an extremely meaningful addition to the museum. The value of a gift like this is priceless."

The donations from Mr. Selleck include the following:
(Henry .44-40 reproduction rifle imported from Italy by Allen Firearms, an early retailer of Western replicas. Mr. Selleck used a Henry from Stembridge Gun Rentals, a Hollywood prophouse for the 1997 film Last Stand at Saber River. Mr. Selleck had this rifle specially engraved to match that prophouse rifle, which was damaged from overuse in other films.)
(Winchester M1876 .45-60 rifle modified by Ken Howell of R&D Gunshop for use by Tom Selleck in the 2001 film Crossfire Trail. Based on an original carbine receiver made in 1879, this longarm was rebuilt for movie use.)
(.45 Schofield revolver from the 2001 film Crossfire Trail. This hand-built revolver was manufactured by Ken Howell of R&D Gun Shop for the film.)
(Colt Richards Conversion .44 revolver manufactured for the 1997 movie Last Stand at Saber River. Engraved with Cable on the backstrap, this ivory-stocked revolver was the one maintained to match its early presentation condition in the film.)
(Colt Open Top .44 revolver manufactured from a Colt blackpowder reproduction for use in Crossfire Trail. The revolver was modified by Ken Howell of R&D Gun Shop.)
(Colt Single Action Army .45 revolver used in the 2003 movie Monte Walsh. This revolver was hand-built by Ken Howell of R&D Gun Shop for the film.)
(Winchester M1886 .50 Express carbine from the 2003 movie Monte Walsh. One of two carbines restored from production receivers by Ken Howell of R&D Gun Shop. Both guns letter as .50 Express carbines.) What a Guy!

WOW! That would have been cool if you had known it was him to begin with. I have met a few Hollywood types even shook hands with Chuck Norris in Iraq but Tom Selleck is on the top of my list of people to meet.

Well, I took my bride to Monterey, CA for our 36th wedding anniversary. Last night, we ate at Domenico's on the Wharf.

Here is a photo of the guy who was "seated" right next to me - for the whole dinner!

My pelican buddy was about 2 feet away from my plate. He flew in when I put on the bright red lobster vest and starting eating a bowl of Cioppino (Italian style fish stew with lots of shellfish, for you midwesterners).

My brush with celebrity came a good many years ago. I was president of our local Friends of the Library, and we were in the midst of a drive to raise $1 million for the construction of a new library in our small county. Practically the whole town that summer had been converted in to a set for a TV miniseries being filmed, starring Charlton Heston. A friend of mine had been hired as a general gofer by the film company, and he got me on to the set one day and introduced me to Moses, himself. I screwed up my courage and asked if he could possibly see his way clear to help us in our fundraising efforts. Mr. Heston not only immediately agreed to help, he threw himself wholeheartedly in to the project and gave much of his free time to fundraising events like softball games, poetry readings, ladies' teas, what have you. He was as friendly, generous, and gracious a man as I have ever met -- and not shy about twisting the arms of his fellow cast members, all of whom pitched in for the effort. By summer's end we had raised nearly twice our goal!

Tom made an appearance at the naval Academy when i was there. He was doing Magnum PI then, (and not the reruns either). My first .45 was bought because of that character. Loved everything he has done to date. He is one of the good ones.

My brush with celebrity was that I met and worked for Clint Eastwood at his ranch and bar in Carmel during the ATT PRO/AM. he helped me take the trash out at night. Wound up playing a round of golf with him after that. A really quiet and nice guy.

Never met any Celebs, but Tom Selleck is definately one of the ones I would like to shake hands with. May GOD continue to bless him as he makes good movies for our entertainment.

My wife and I have seen Sam Elliot at the Safeway store near us on several occasions. He grew up here, and his mom still lives here. He comes to town often and usually goes shopping for her when he does. I really like his work, but have never wanted to impose by talking to him when he's in the store. He alwways tries to sort of hide by wearing sunglasses, and his hair is always worn very long.

They are all just people, some with high egos, some down to earth. In the early 60s I worked security for universal studios. (Studio cop) Once I was working on "the rare breed". I mentioned to another, I havent seen Brian Keith yet. He said, I just saw you BS,n with him for the last 20 minuets! He had a red beard and I had thought he was a extra. Saw him a little later and we had a laugh over it. Then the next day he called me over and gave me a nice picture of him and "old yeller" as I had mentioned by conicidence I was dateing a widow whos son was named brian keith (1st & middle name). Nicely autographed & told me to give it to the boy. Also remember Jimmy Stewart springing for my lunch that day.
Somewhere I have a picture of tom selick with another girl friend I had. (She died about 10 years ago). She managed a mens big & tall store that the building tom & his brother Bob owned. Both of them liked her and tom once gave her a nice outfit. They tried to hire her to be a prpoperty manager for some of their holdings in our area. That was in lancaster, calif. I belive his brother Bob is even taller than he is. My wife once told me when she was a kid she had a crush on clint walker, (cheyanne). About 2 years ago I spotted him at a event near where we live. She had me take this picture. He now lives in our area a big part of the year.

"Hello", huh? One of these days I'll tell the story of how I got a kiss from Wonder Woman. Maybe even the Brooke Shields one too ... (just before she married Andre).
