I know you shouldnt do this, BUT I just had to know Used T/C Contender with 21" and 10" barrels. They averaged 910 FPS and
860 FPS respectively. Ammo was Rem t-bolt 36gr HP, this ammo averaged 1175 FPS in my 10/22 and Rossi M62. Out of 50 rounds 3 split. They all extracted easily. Groups were about 3 inches low and grouped into 2 inches at 44 yards. The front half of case expanded to fit chamber, the back half barely expanded at all. Wont be doing this again unless i had no more 22 mag and was alone in woods, with no food. They were pretty quiet tho!!

OT: 22LR in 22 Mag
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

I've done the same with my Ruger single-six. Shot LR in the Magnum cylinder.

Re: OT: 22LR in 22 Mag
Good thread guys. I've wondered about this same thing since I carry a Savage .22Mag./20 gauge behind the seat of my truck all the time. I have plenty of .22 mag ammo on hand for now but the stuff is gettin' darn expensive so it's nice to know I could use .22 LR in a pinch.

Re: OT: 22LR in 22 Mag
I have done this by mistake with my Ruger SS. Thought I had the 22LR cylinder installed and shot 22LR's out of the Mag cylinder. Wonder where the accuracy had gone. Found out when I got Home I was loading the wrong cylinder. The Mag. must be a tight chambered cylinder, case's were easy to extract and not bulged much. I shot close to a box of 50.
It'll work in a pinch, you loose accuracy, of course. And you can get a split case now and then, I'm sure.

Re: OT: 22LR in 22 Mag
Slitting 22LR cases in a 22 Mag cylinder is a go way to screw up the chamber and end up with Mag rounds not chambering or extracting.
