OT - Hornet vs Fox (Photo)
An unlucky fox made the mistake of taking an evening stroll through the front garden. Upon seeing it I quickly got the .22 Hornet out of the cabinet and went outside with GK snr to see if we could get him. Team work payed off as the old man called the vixen back out of the wood and held its attention long enough for me to get a shot off. The fox was about 65 yards out and a bullet to the chest dropped it.

Nice fox. Indeed, that is a very nice rifle.

Your load or a factory job? If it's your load, I'd love to know what it is? Especially which bullet. My little lo-wall in the Hornet is a blast....now I wish I had some coyotes to shoot with it

Good shooting. I really like the Hornet for pests and varmints(VMAX bullets) and turkey (Winchester soft points). Mine is not as pretty as yours, but it is a shooter.

Kansas Ed,
I was using a factory load. I haven't got into reloading yet but its something i'd like to do in the future. The ammo I used was made by Sellier & Bellot, 45 grain soft point bullets.
Salvo,
Mange is a problem here to, particularly with urban foxes which are sometimes caught up by "animal lovers" and let go in the countryside where they have little chance of survival
It looks like this one had mange and judging by its behaviour walking down the track in broad daylight, it could have been an urban fox.
Thanks for the compliments on the rifle, I sure am proud to own it. Not only is my Pa a good teacher, he's a sucker and gives me nice rifles too, for that i'm very thankful!

Thought I heard a shot! Well done the two's of you.
I like the S&B ammo, allways did ok for me allthough I had a 222 try it's best to get it self out of the chamber one day but that was only the once!
If ever you wish to reload for it and money is tight there is some dies and cases here, and a few bullets I think, maybe a few primers too. Oh and some powder!
Anyway keep nailing them
