Excellent. My Mom's husband wanted a rosary for Christmas this past year and we had a heck of a time finding a nice one. When we finally found some, they were WAY over priced. We ordered one on-line and it got me thinking that I would like to made one for myself. This has just inspired me more to do so.

Wow! That's my web site. I had no idea you all were discussing this until I saw that I had over 60 hits from this forum.

FYI I collect and shoot guns and have the following lever guns:

Winchester Model 250 .22 L/S/LR
Winchester Model 94AE .30-30
Marlin Model 1894 CS .38SPL/.357 Mag
Interarms/Rossi Model 92 SRC .38SPL/.357 Mag
Savage Model 99 .308

I think I'm the only person who uses handgun brass in their rosaries and really appreciate everyone who visits my web site. I've got my fingers in several pots so, things move slowly. However, everyone who requests a free Soldier's Rosary (it's on the honor system) will get one. I also sell others and would be glad to make one for you. The few I sell help pay for the freebies.

Thanks, again. :D 8)

If any of you have requested rosaries and not received them, please bear with me. Recently, I've had a negative reaction to a prescription and am currently bedridden with limited mobility until the effects wear off. Sorry, this thing hit me like a ton of bricks.

Babalooie, kind sir, I wish that I had something like your Rosary at my disposal many years ago, when I was a young signal/cavalry officer. (Now, I'm just old.) I may not be able to get one of those Rosaries for myself, but . . . Maybe I'll be able to help defray the costs of someone who really needs one, far more than I do.

Update: I'm still recovering from the cholesterol lowering med my doctor gave me; having trouble walking and can't climb stairs without a cane and both feet on a step. It's coming slow. Don't know if this thing is permanent. Please bear with me and I'll fill all orders. It's just gonna take a bit of time.

Prayers continue. My doctor put me on Pravastatin late last year for cholesterol lowering/control. No side effects. You might want to consider changing medications - there are a number of these types of drugs on the market today.

Sorry to hear that. I have a damaged liver from a car accident about 25 years ago. When I had to go on blood pressure medication, and them the cholesterol medication, the challenge was finding pharmaceuticals that would not interact with the liver. I remember feeling tired for about a week after starting the BP medication (probably because my body was somewhat used to 160/110! ); nary a side effect I can remember on the Pravastatin, but everyone reacts differently. I hope they get it figured out for you!

Remember that many people who are a 'candidate' for a 'statin' are so-called 'moderate risk' - meaning that out of every 100,000 of them, between 10,000 and 20,000 of them will have an MI or stroke during the next ten years; the WORST 'statin' might cause 10 or perhaps 100 serious side effects in that size group. So, even if the first one you try messes with you, it is worth it to keep trying.

Also, many patients can avoid the muscle side effects if they have proper levels of things like vitamin D, coenzyme Q, magnesium, carnitine, and other substances many of us have marginal levels of.

The safest and most effective drugs are ones the insurance companies don't profit as much on (remember, they are the 'middle men' when you buy drugs nowdays); we usually just ask the patient up front if they want us to prescribe what we'd recommend for our own family members, or if they'd prefer we stick with whatever maximizes their insurance company's profits. We'll do either, but many patients just want whatever is the cheapest, and the insurance companies often punish patients with higher prices if they take the better drugs, but sometimes the 'best' drug is maybe $12.50 a month, vs. $4.00 if you pay out-of-pocket, and $200 vs. $4.00 if you whip out your insurance card. (Glad your employer took $900 a month out of your paycheck, plus 'only' the additional $100 you pay yourself for that great insurance, huh... )

Doctors sometimes earn bonuses from HMO's, insurance companies, or hospitals, for prescribing 'formulary' medicines (read 'highest profit margin for insurance/hospital'), and the bonuses, disguized as 'quality' or 'performance' factors, can amount to thousands of dollars per quarter, or even per month in some cases. Of course our stupid news media is more interested in the 'drug rep' who might get us to stand still for a sales pitch by giving us a $3.00 pen, or a slice of pizza, as if we're too stupid to see the name tag and realize it's a sales pitch, or that some competitor won't counter their story the next day. Meanwhile, behind closed doors, 'formulary' committees meet and dictate which drugs the 'honorable' physicians (who refuse to see evil drug reps) will earn bonus money by prescribing. In other cases, it's simply a matter of overhead; we don't have the profit margins in primary care to pay staff for an hour and a half on hold to 'justify' why you get the good medicine vs. the lousy.

So you get the lousy, unless you're an 'insider' - that's the joy of socialized health care.

I'll shut up now...

To be honest, it'll take a LOT of coaxing by my MD before I'm willing to go through that experience again. He's a good honorable practitioner who I've dealt with for about 20 years. I don't feel the same toward the drug company.

I went back to work for a couple of days; I do a part time thing at a local Mom and Pop gun / archery / fishing sporting goods shop. A guy came in on Thursday a recommended flaxseed oil. Guess I'll give it a try, since I have about three months before I have to discuss meds with my MD.

Babalooie, sorry to hear about the reaction. AJMD429 gave you some good advice. Something else is you might try taking the herb Milk Thistle as it does heal the liver. The statin drugs all have the ability to damage the liver and if it occurs then the multiple b vitamins, coenzyme Q10, and milk thistle can combine to heal the damage. Unfortunately, there is about 15percent of the population who cannot take any statin drug without damage. Fish oil Omega 3 fatty acids, a fibrate type of drug, and maybe niacin are alternatives. They are less effective, but do help. Prayers sent for your recovery and for protection on the Rosary making. The reaction might have been Satan's way of getting back at you for the damage you have dealt him.

"The reaction might have been Satan's way of getting back at you for the damage you have dealt him."

Most definitely. In fact, it happens often.

I just got back from Buffalo (8/12-16), NY where I assisted a friend with his conference at the HBSC arena. A very impressive event. Was told the attacks are, "... part of the job."

I would like to get one of these, how are you doing on back orders now?

I have a few orders waiting, and they will go out soon. Feel free to make a request on the website. Go to the "Contact Us" tab.
