Hornady LE jamup
Had a 336 marlin in 35 remington brought into the shop today, owner said it jammed last deer season, said it had 3 rounds in the mag tube, lever down action open. One round was sticking out 3/8 inch over the carrier, tried to move it with a wooden dowel, stuck solid! took the mag cap, spring and follower out, one round came out. Took the mag tube off pulled the round from the rear, tapped side of the tube finally got all 6 rounds out. The red plastic tips were all smashed flat from being stuck under the head of the round in front! Looks like being rimless left enough room for this, checked with a 30wcf don't think it could happen there. Anyone heard of this?
Re: Hornady LE jamup
Rounds in the tube do not line up precisely tip-to-primer. Each is slightly canted. The follower in the new Marlins designed specifically for LE ammo prevent this. Get him a new-style follower.

Had the same problem w/ my .450m.
I was told that Marlin will send you a new lifter to prevent this.
It's on my list to do along with a million other things.

It can only prevent it on the one setting against the follower. Every round after that can slip off the side & get wedged. Far as I can figure the only real solution would be a tighter tube, maybe a sleeve of some sort.

I had the exact same thing happen on my 336 RC. I had loaded 5 rounds into the tube at the range and on the 5th one, I felt the cartridge slide under the one in front. I tried working the lever and it jammed up the exact same way as you mention. I took the gun apart, and removed the mag tube and dumped out the rounds. I had to pull the 5th one out as it was jammed in the carrier.
I had used these during hunting season and never had a problem. I was loading it pretty quickly and I think that was part of the problem. Now I'm not sure about using them for hunting or not.

Makes me even less eager to use the gummy-tips. Seems the only advantage is a marginally flatter trajectory. I have a 7mm Remington for that.

That happened a lot after the initial introduction of the rubber tipped LeveRevolution ammo. The initial cure for it was to load a regular roung in the magazine tube first and then load the LeveRevolution rounds.
What was happening was that the tip of the first bullet in the magazine was catching between the side of the follower and the magazine tube. The dimpled magazine follower allows the tip of the first bullet to ride in the dimple.
The fix for the LeveRevolution jam was to install a dimpled magazine follower in place of the stock magazine follower. If you contact Marlin, you can order a dimpled magazine follower from them. As far as I know, all Marlin rifles now come with the dimpled magazine follower.

I am an old fuddy duddy who firmly believes in the K.I.S.S. principle. I use what works. I don't see any need to change to something that does not provide enough extra performance to overcome the cost and trouble to use it.
And there for, after reading this thread and those that have come before it, I have firmly made up my mind to continue using the standard lever action flat and round nosed bullets in my rifles.
Simple, sure and reliable.
