A public thank you to several deserving people
All we hear a lot today is about people getting ripped off on the internet, folks getting all hot 'n bothered about politics and wind up screaming at each other and many other things that are negative to say the least.
I've come across several folks in the lever world that I think should get some little recognition.
First off, thanks to the member here with the username Salvo. I wanted something to cover up that disgusting crater in the side of my Win 94 .44. mag. Traded email with him, ordered one. Got it promptly, dropped it in and it was good to go. Thank you.
In the same vein, I wanted something to replace the Marlin cross bolt safety in two of my rifles. This guy here, Clyde Ludwig, http://www.leverguns.com/articles/taylo ... safety.htm had a website but no other way of contact but his phone number. I felt it was somewhat intrusive, but I called him and had a great conversation. He didn't have exactly what I wanted (stainless) but what he got me worked fine. Again, money order in the mail, it came in, dropped in, good to go. Thank you.
Last, I wanted some real sights for my .45-70 cowboy Marlin. Yeah, could have ordered several different types but I came across this guy, Skinner sights at http://www.skinnersights.com/ I went to his website, he had several interesting offerings, but until I researched around I found he had several other sights not listed. He has pictures of his other sights at http://s222.photobucket.com/albums/dd53/timski_01/ Including one that was a combo peep with a flip up ladder sight. it mounts on the back of the receiver and comes in, of course, brass. The price was right, order made and it looks fantastic on top of the rifle. Thank you.
Now think about this, my friends. People that I had never met, I sent blindly money trusting all would work out. They all returned a product that exceeded my expectations. Is that not a super positive commentary on the quality of the people in this little section of our firearms group?

Welcome to the fire.
This is my favorite gun forum. Most here tend to be tradionalist, grounded in common sense and just plain ol' friendly.

ceb, we went through the same type of weather when we drove up to Salem Mo Friday to see my cousin. Hard driving rain and straight line winds that laid trees down in rows, also houses. We saw alot of areas that had tornado damage too.
GOT THIS POST ON THE WRONG PAGE, SORRY.

Welcome to the fire. I don't think there's anyone on this forum, that's been around at least a little time, I wouldn't trust. Most those type people don't last around here long.

Welcome aboard!
Most folks here are quite decent, it seems. I would
take most of their recommendations without question.
I've had good luck with Doc Skinner as well. As I've said
before, he's a real gent to deal with.
