Browning B-92, 357 magnum

Post by getitdone1 »

What's the latest price for a used Browning B-92 chambered for 357 mag? This gun and cartridge are a top-notch combination. Had one and want another but no hurry. Anywhere on internet where one is available?

All I know is they are few and far between, and "not" cheap.
And they are better than any 401K plan out there right now.

Here before long you might contact my local UPS. The one I sold TNTBigBore arrived in several pieces (buttstock all busted up) and not sure about any other damage. It's supposed to be shipped back to me and then it will soon belong to them.

I don't know who felt worse, me or Neal (probably him though).

They are fine rifles, I just didn't shoot it enough to keep it.

Gotta go now, got some dust in my eyes again.

I am seeing them go for around $700-$1200
Depending on condition from Good to NIB
But thats one gun which should increase as time goes by
a good deal. But I am no expert and thats just my guess.
They are pretty hard to find now!
and it seems lately alot of people want them.

I can tell you they are plenty hard to find. I had one a couple of years ago and sold it. It took me another year to find one and what did UPS do but destroy it. I am thinking it could be at least another year before I find another one.

One of my favorite guns of any type. I bought this one used many years ago, and stuck a Lyman 66 rear sight on it. Accurate, slick, fun.

OK don't flame if I am overly simplistic about this,
make UPS buy a new stock and repair what other damage there is and go on?

Wish it were that simple. It could take months or years to find a replacement B-92 buttstock and this one was exceptionally well figured. Even if I could find a replacement, it would not match the foreend to my liking. I tried that exact thing once with a 1950s Marlin Texan 35. I was not satisfied with the end results.

I guess I too am going to be overly simplistic here...

Wood is Wood... even if especially fine figured. A good Stockmaker can and will reproduce any stock you need from whatever fine figured wood you or he finds.

Yes, it will take months, and yes it sucks, but it's wood... the least durable component on a rifle.

(admitedly, I'm just as happy with plain wood as a particularly "fine" tigerstripe, but I tink the point is still valid....)

This was the butt stock, of the B92 going to TNTBigBore, that UPS destroyed. It was in a case, inside a box that a local dealer had received a rifle in, packed with newspapers (tightly packed) on all sides.

I haven't seen the gun as of yet and I have had just one call from UPS, telling me that it had been recieved damaged. Neal didn't think there was any other damage, but he didn't get a real good look at it.

I don't know if UPS will pay insured price or if they will want me to have it restocked. I've never had to file a claim with them before. I know Fred Wenig, of Wenig Gunstocks Lincoln, MO., and if they only wish to replace the stock, I will go to him first.

I have looked online but haven't found any factory stocks for sale.

Neal, I'll let you know what UPS says.

TNTBigBore's money has already been sent back to him. I'm still waiting to hear from UPS on how they will make it good. It was insured.

Dealing with Stormspotter was the only positve aspect of this whole mess. He was easy to deal with and sent my refund out immediately after finding out about the damage. I will be even more ticked at UPS if they do not take care of him.

Lets stay clear of a musical instruments.
Seems I created a bit of a stir in starting the instrument question thread.
