45-70 double
I BUILT A 45-70 DOUBLE FROM A SHOTGUN ANYONE INTERESTED IN A REVIEW ON HOW IT'S DONE? PACO
PACO/OWNER
Re: 45-70 double
I'd love to hear about it, Paco. I've fantasized about a similar project with a nice-quality Spanish double I have.

You're not going to get an argument out of any of us. Perhaps a lot of begging and whining, but no argument!

Re: 45-70 double
I did it too, well sort of. I had a Biakal SXS coachgun with external hammers and with screw-in chokes and bought and installed the 45/70 barrel inserts. Slick little set up. A CAS shooter wanted in real bad and paid way more than I had into it.
Re: 45-70 double
Sounds pretty interesting to me.
Re: 45-70 double
AMEN, I'd like to see that. Been eyeing the Reminton/Spartan SxSs for a while now.

Re: 45-70 double
Seems to be a unanimous YES!
Can you also comment on how this type project might be done for a .45-90 and .405 Winchester?
Thank you.

I would most grateful for the info Mr. Kelly!

It would be an absolute hoot to reline my old ($100) 16ga Damascus Hammer Gun and turn it into a BP-pressure double .45/70...AndyM wrote:sounds very interesting. I have an old 12 g JC Higgins in the safe that could be a recruit.

Lets not delay this too long as it is unbecoming to have American men line up begging.

I guess it all depends how many here are machinists or tool and die people(have ability to set head spacing) and have machine tools available to preform the needed tasks, to do this type of work?brucew44guns wrote:Paco,Is there any guarantees, that after reviewing your info, that most of us will own such a double rifle? I talked with Paco yesterday (May 4) .. He has some health issues that need addressed, as well as caring for his wife's health problems. He may be a little slow getting back to you boys ... but the double rifle is a reality.
