OT, Need help with Mossberg reassembly

Post by MikeS. »

I found a good video for stripping a Mossberg 500 and putting it back together. I've watched the video several times and understand how everything goes back together.

I get stuck putting the FCG back into the receiver. It hangs on the 2 bars, shell holder and interrupter.

Any suggestion? I've tried for 2 hours and have now quit for tonight.

It has been a long time since I took one apart, but I think you have to hook the trigger group in the front and then swing it in. Everything has to be lined up for it to go back into place. Here is a video about it. It may be the same one you already saw.

Make sure the hammer is cocked and the bolt is part way back.

Bear done got it! Here is what I posted elsewhere I was asking for help. THANKS Bear 45/70!

Ok, after about 3 hours total I got my 600 back together. The video I was watching showed the bolt forward when putting the trigger group back in. On this Mossberg the bolt had to be towards the rear of the receiver, towards the safety.

If you ever decide to strip down your Mossberg 500/600 keep this in mind.

This comes from owning a number of Mossberg 500s over the years, still have 3.
