OT The first Dog

Post by Rusty »

I heard on the radio that Ted Kennedy has given the Obamas a dog to be the first dog. It's called a Portuguese Water dog. Am I the only one that thinks that's funny? I wonder if they named it Chappaquiddick?

Wow, I'd forgotten about that. Seems like an apt name.

Good point. I hope they don't find out that he's a hunting breed, They would probably have him put down. :x

Thanks for the kind words - that's our brindle "little" sister who weighed in at a dainty feminine 205# last fall. Her big bro weighed in at 249# - we've had Mastiffs for ddecades and showed them for years but, retired from that - they are just family now.

Here's what they looked like at 11 weeks of age - the day we got them -

And now -

OJ,
You can keep all the guns in the safe pal.
You have two locked and loaded cannons right there.
They are great looking dogs(Horses???????) :D

P.S.--You should get a tax exemption for Dog Food.

Picking on the President and Ted Kennedy is always good sport and in the greatest tradition of American politics.
However, I think I should point out that Obama had to choose between just a few breeds that are known to be relatively safe
for people who are allergic. One of his daughters is very allergic to animals but really wanted a dog. So they picked one that doesn't shed
or leave dander around the house. I have a cousin with the same problem.
So, lets blast away at the gun grabbing president but try to give the kids a break about their new dog.

I didn't find a shot at the kids in any of these posts at all. All the remarks are aimed at Barack and Ted Kennedy. The folks here have more class than most other places on the 'net.

That poor breed!
Its eternal claim to fame will now be its association with the two most dangerous liberals of all time. If I were that dog, I would find an illegal handgun and shoot myself......or just jump off a bridge.

Try a bridge spanning a rocky gorge. BTW, hitting water from more than 60 ft. is supposed to be like hitting concrete.

Not to be a nit picker but, I've owned and showed dogs of various breeds (mostly Mastiffs - but also Rhodesian Ridgebacks and long-haired Saint Bernards) and it's a common misconception long hared dogs shed more and produce more dander to cause allergies it's not predictable. My Ridgebacks had the shortest hair and produced the most dander to stir up my allergies and my long haired Saint Bernards the least of both. The only way to find out is to try it on that breed of dog.

YMMV

My wife's away, doing a sleep study tonight. I'm pretty sure Boomer didn't think taking a bath was a good "guys' night in" activity.

With all due respect, nobody said anything about the little ones. I wouldn't do what his party did (and is still doing) to Governor Palin's family.

And just 'cuz an hombre has kids doesn't make him any less subject to ridicule for his actions or views! :)

I certainly do not want to rain on your parade, but, you fellas might want to check out the AKC website on the breed! Not in the sporting group, look in the working group. Seems they list him as a fishman not a hunter!

By the way, I always thought he was named after daddy...BO...Barack Obamanation.

Or maybe the dog is Ted Kennedy's way of paying homage to "water boarding".
