Winchester 71 Long Range

Post by Ravenman »

Who said leverguns are only usable at short range?
Friend of mine with his Winchester 71 348 Winchester (Williams Fire Sight) at 200 meters. No problem to hit a target about the size of a watermelon.
Sighted in at 100 meters with Winchester 200grs. factory stuff.

Same rifle in late summer with reloads (Hornady and Barnes).

Man! There's that "neat place to shoot" again. I like those pics--its just so much fun shooting at rocks, etc in a place that is totally safe. :D BTW-put that model 71 on a bench with sandbags and it will hit those watermelon sized targets out to 500 meters.----easily---------------Sixgun

Below is #921 Deluxe

He could probably hit the 300m targets if he'd stop holding the rifle backwards. 8)

We tried the 348 Winchester also at 500 meters. IPSC size target was hit 6 times out of 10. Problem. The red Williams front firesight was too big.

My new Browning M71 High Grade at 100 meters with Winchester 200grs. factory stuff. This is a great rifle and a real shooter! Just can't wait to try it out at longer ranges.

What a sweet lookin' pair of 71s, Ravenman. You have a beautiful country and lovely place to shoot. Everything is so green; not like here where we live in gold and brown most of the year.

I can't wait to get my old 71 out to the elk country. Hopefully, she'll be gettin' a lick, or two, on 1 November. :D

With this gun and cartridge it's easy to hit!

@ Mike D. Thanks for the kind words about my country and the gun. I can tell you I love both and your Winchester 71 is a beauty too!!

@ Old Savage - next time I hope you see some blood on the knife.
