Hey fellas. This report has been around for a good while, but I wanted to offer it just in case. It is from a guy at the marlinowners forum who goes by "35 Remington". It is the most in-depth 35 Remington bullet test I have discovered. The second link is for a more recent study of the Hornady LeverEvolution bullet, with some comparisons with the bullets in the earlier study. NOTICE: The first link is 3 pages long, so don't miss out on all that info!
BTW, this info played a key role in my decision to order a Marlin 336C in 35 Remington.
Bogie35, THAT is a comprehensive link! What a feast for
35 Remington lovers. I've always been a fan of the Core-Lokt
bullet. It's an old, old design - but it was done right the first
time.

Thanks!

You're welcome! It's great for me since I'm not handloading (yet!). I thought the LeverEvolution was particularly interesting. It appears to equal the top Core-Lokt handloads (2200fps) in expansion and penetration, but of course it's readily available and pretty affordable considering.
Thanks for the info it will help since next deer season the 35 rem is up to bat................. I dont know what to do yet for ammo it is one of the few I dont handload for should I buf the dies or buy factory ???????????

That is a great report. I first read it about 1 year ago. He validated what I always thought about the .35 Rem. I went out and found a beautiful one used LNIB. I did alot of testing with that rifle. If you are trying to duplicate his results use a newer manufacture rifle 1975 and after and use Remington cases. The Rem. cases hold on average 2grs more powder. H-4895 is a great powder for the .35 Rem. If you use W/W cases and H-4895 you will probably not be able to get enough powder in the case to achieve 2200fps with the Speer 220gr F.P. and still chamber the round. My experience anyway. My Marlin had a short throat and I could not seat the bullet deep enough and still chamber the round and achieve 2200fps with the Speer 220gr and H-4895. My way around this was to use Benchmark. If one utilizes Rem. cases one can duplicate his results with H-4895. Mic McPherson talked me out of that particular Marlin .35 and I am not likely to get it back. Look for an article on this rifle and the .35 Rem soon in Precision Shooter or Accurate Rifle. Great round. Think about this. The .375 throws a 220gr bullet at 2200fps, a properly loaded .35 Rem throws a 220gr bullet at 2200fps with better sectional density. A properly loaded .35 Rem with the 220gr Speer F.P. is only about 50-75fps behind the .356. No need to rechamber your .35 Rem to .356 Win. No flies on the .35 Rem. It is a killer. 1886.
I'm not surprised to read good things of the corelock factory round or the 200 gr. Hornady roundnose. My first REAL deer rifle, and the first rifle for which I reloaded, back in 1962, was a 336SC Marlin. I shot the bore out of that rifle in a just a couple of years, using it for everything from deer to woodchucks, and bales of targets! The plain ole' roundnose 200 gr. did it's job everytime that I did mine. I took a lot of ribbing from pals who were totally committed to the lever-action .30-bore, that is until they saw the power and accuracy of the .35. I loaded thousands of rounds in that rifle using a Lee loader-in-a-box, and wore out the mallet and the 2x4 that I pounded all those cases on. Yeah, the .35 Rem. is a good'un.
The Wise said: "This cannot be done." The Fool came, and did it.
My 375 winchester throws a 220 gr at 2400 fps.I did have trouble with some loads not feeding but I think I found the problem.I use up to 300 gr fmj bullets for my first shot.I like the 235 gr speer bullets best.
