OT---feel kinda guilty, sorta-- You better sit down

Post by Thunder50 »

Friend called and asked if I had any 223 to sell. Figured that I took what wolf I wanted to part with, to the show and sold it yesterday and told him so. He said a guy was needing some bad and had a single action 44 to trade. Though what the heck, so took a partial case of PMC stuff and went to look at what he had. Figured a SBH or Vaquero. Didn't really need, but though might be good for some trading material later. Friend couldn't go, so called he called the guy and told him I would come out and look at it. Went out to look. Almost choked, but kept a straight face. Asked him what kind of deal he had in mind. He wanted $450 and 30 boxes of ammo. Gave him the ammo and cash. Got back in the truck and started to breathe again. It wasn't a 44 mag, it was a 44 Special. Kind of one of those deals of a lifetime.

Yup, its a COLT--Unfired

By the looks of the target, it is no longer 'unfired'

You sir, lucked out big time. I'm seriously envious. I don't do 44 special, but there's a lot of people out there that do.

New Frontier Colts in .44 Special are quite rare. Skeeter Skelton had one just a bit shorter, in 4 3/4 ".

Nicely done! Gerry

Talked to my friend later last night. Guess the guy bought a package of guns from someone and it was part of it. He didn't care for it and didn't have any desire for it.

For me, thats a different story. About the only gun I would want, would have been either a M24 Smith or the Colt and I figured the Colt was just a pipe dream. Dang ,thought I used all my luck when I met my now wife. Guess I had a little left. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket.

i haven't seen any Colt single action for less than 1500 -- usually with a lot more wear than Thunders. I figure 450$ plus 30 boxes of 223 is at least 1/2 price, maybe better

Although i have to confess to getting involved with a minor level of 223 stockpiling myself -- AR's are addictive too

Is this a second generation or third generation gun? It does sound like one of those deals of a lifetime.
