I've been busy playing carpenter.

Post by MikeS. »

I've not shared this with y'all here before but now I will.

In 2004 my wife was diagnosed with emphysema. She did OK until June 2007 when she got pneumonia real bad. Spent 15 days in the hospital. Had surgery to clean off the and repair the left lung. From that her emphysema got much worse. She has been on oxygen full time since. She is 49 and never smoked a thing.

On Sunday March 1st she fell in the house and broke her left shoulder. She has been in the hospital since. The last 2 weeks in a rehab hospital facility. While in the main hospital she got pneumonia again. It is being stubborn. She is now on a 3rd round of antibiotics. We thought she was going to come home Monday. That has been put off a few more days while they continue the IVs.

Wednesday and Friday this week 4 of my Masonic Brothers came over and helped me build a wheelchair ramp up to the front door for her. Thursday was rained out. These 4 are all retired and made themselves available to me. What a great bunch of men! 3 of the 4 are Past Masters of my Lodge. This is what the Fraternity is all about. Helping a Distressed worthy Brother and a sister. My wife is OES, Order fo the Eastern Star.

Here is a link to a bunch of photos I took. The password into the album is 2913.

Prayers for you and yours. Hopefully she'll eventually be able to drop the oxygen.

Unfortunately not until she is 6' under. :(

She was evaluated for a lung transplant, not a viable candidate.

Thanks y'all.

That's the kind of thing a husband and friends can take pride in. Beats the heck out of some lame piece of jewelry. Too bad it needed to be done, but she's a lucky woman to have folks like you all around. I'm sure she knows that.

Y'all did a nice job. Looks like it is a nice easy angle that should work well for her.

Very nice. I remember ramping my mom's place. Not an easy task. My prayers are with you, your wife and family.
