.475 Turnbull??

Post by MajorCordite »

I see where Doug Turnbull is advertising his "new".475 Turnbull cartridge. He says it is the best thing since sliced bread. What happened to the .475 Linebaugh? I thought this was the standard. Are these two different ammos? :?

Can't do a thing that the .45-70 can't. Sorry, but these "new and improved" proprietary cartridges just don't fly with me.

They are quite different. The 475 Turnbull is a longer cartridge designed for use in leverguns, the Linbaugh is a shortened 45-70, 1.5" case length I think.

Still, not enough difference in the 475 Turnbull and a stout 45-70 to justify the high cost, at least for me.

BTW, welcome! :D

I would still like to blow a .45-90 out to .475" for use with BP in single shot rifles. "The .48-90" 8)
Slow is just slow.
