OT - Rolling Block - another link added

Post by Old Shatterhand »

Husqvarna Vapenfabrik built a lot of guns on the Remington Rolling Block. The Swedish army made the RB to its standard rifle in 1867, and Husqvarna built thousands for the army. However, even many hunting gun - rifles and shotguns - were made with the system too.

Modern Swedish metal industry was founded on the building of these american guns. Sweden bought the right to produce the systems from Remington, and had to renew the whole industry for the purpose. This renewment was beneficial for other branches of the industry than only the Royal armories. The seed of our prosperous industry was the RB.

In this article, which sadly enough is in Swedish, there are a lot of fine photos of old Remington RB: http://webnews.textalk.com/se/article.php?id=298379

I like my Roller in 50-90 Sharps with it's 26in. barrel. It shoots really will with 450grainers and a full case of black too. I need to post up some pics of it when I get some.
