guide gun
Well, that about does it for me. I was looking to put a ghost ring sight on my Guide Gun, but knowing my dimming eyes and seeing your scoped rifle here today convinces me I need the same scope on mine. It's on my list of needs for 08 allready. Thanks

We have in every other town a 300 meter rifle and 25/50 meter pistol military range to practice with the military arm. These ranges can be used one day every week from spring to autumn. Swiss soldiers have the personal rifle or pistol at home. Every year he got to proof that he practiced with rifle or pistol (Bundesprogramm) not only in official army training. The ammo is free but the score will be written in the army log. Failing or missing this qualifying round he will be punished. If you passe active duty and used the rental gun at private matches before retirement you can have the rifle or pistole. All shooters with only the official army training have to give back the personal weapons. Today we are armed with SIG 550 assault rifles "Sturmgewehr 90". GP 90 ammo is a 5.56 round with 62grs. FMJ bullet. Predecessor was aussault rifle Sturmgewehr 57 in 7.5x55 Swiss (GP11) and the Schmidt-Rubin M 1931 short action straight-pull bolt action rifle (also 7.5x55 Swiss). The SIG 220 in 9 Para is the sidearm today. And the SIG 210 9mm Para was sidearm before the SIG 220.dkmlever wrote:Great group Ravenman, is it hard to shoot in Switzerland? I really like my 2-7X33 Leupold. I wish my gun was the blued version. I got the stainless version for the same price as a blued one and couldn't pass it up.

I don't find the stainless very attractive. I also have a real nice blued 1895 made in 1972 so I'll keep my shiny Guide Gun. It's too accurate to part with.

Ravenman I couldn't see your targets the first time I opened this thread. Those are awesome.

I bet you could get it bead blasted pretty cheaply, which ought to take the shine right out of it...Swampman wrote:I don't find the stainless very attractive. I also have a real nice blued 1895 made in 1972 so I'll keep my shiny Guide Gun. It's too accurate to part with.
I don't like shiny guns, either... after watching guys walking thru the brush about 400 yds away... looked like they were carrying mirrors.
