Thanks Bob,

Do you think this one would work?

I installed a stud in my Browning band. Being aluminum, I didnt want to just drill and tap it. I took the small knurled nut that is available for bolt action forends and contoured it to match the inside of the band. I drilled the band to accept the major diameter of the sud, and let the bit go into the wood a ways as a locator. With the nut on the stud, using the hole in the wood as the locator hole, scribed around the nut, then inletted the nut tightly enough to fit snugly in the wood. This is under the band and doesnt show. File a flat spot on the band for the base of the stud to bear on, file the stud to length so it doesnt hit the mag tube, and try the location. When it's torqued, it may not be quite right the first time, but you can then pull the nut out and turn it till its indexed right when torqued. Makes a rather strong installation, and looks much cleaner than the aftermarket band around the tube. If you want it "original" again, you can intall a factory band and the hole for the nut in the forend is covered.

If you want a replacement band, one from a Winchester 94 will be closest I believe, tho nobody makes one with a stud attached that I'm aware of.

I've done my Winchester carbines this way also.

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

Sent an email to brownells tech department and asked if
these two items will work for what I am trying to do.

WOW!! Came to the fast realization Browning B-92 parts are
all but non-existent. :o

Sure hope nothing ever breaks on this little puppy. :|

That's funny, I came to the same conclusion tonight after searching Brownells and finding only 1892 items available are Marbles tang sight (dropped by factory), Williams peep sight (uses the '94 verison) and AGI video and disassembly guide.

Yes, B-92 parts are hard to find. I inquired about replacement bands myself. There is a place in Canada that has some parts but not what you are looking for. The word is the supply of bands dried up due to the band breaking. Midwest Gun Parts http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgw ... -gun-parts can supply the phone number. I also heard many guys are using Marlin bands. Regards, 1886.

I do not know the part number. I was considering purchasing new barrel band and a new forearm band for my B-92. They are not broken but the finish has worn over time. The above info was supplied by the gal who answered the phone at the Canadian gun parts co. that I called. I will just have to have the bands touched up. Good Luck, 1886.

call me misinformed but I am almost certain that it is A CAPITAL CRIME to put a sling on an 1892. I know, I'm just too too and too old fashioned.

But I gotta say, if John Moses Browning thought the Model 1892 needed a sling, HE WOULD HAVE PUT ONE ON IT !!

I agree,

BUT, a sling sure comes in handy for climbing in and out of a tree stand.
