Chapparal .45-75WCF Ammo and Brass
Hi, this is my first post to the forum. I saw someone say Chapparal is making ammo for their rifles in 45-75. Anyone heard any more about it including availability/price, etc.?
I have a new Chapparal rifle with Buffalo Arms loaded ammo and some brass just waiting to try. Soon as I get past some current medical problems...hopefully, in early Spring. I'm so anxious to shoot it.

45-75 ammo
Buffalo arms sells 20 for $49
Gad Cartridges sells 20 for $30.
Both are based on reformed .348 brass.

I can't be of much direct help as my Chaparral is in 40-60. Doesn't mean I don't know where to look, though.

With the Euro so strong against the dollar right now, I'm not anticipating a great price on that ammo (and it will likely delay importation) but of course I'll have to try a box... I've some of rjohns94's GAD ammo but I'm waiting for a good day for chronographing some ammo before shooting any of it.
Sincerely,
Hobie

Re: 45-75 ammo
Thanks for the info on Gad. I have some of the Buffalo Arms loaded ammo and some of their .348 based brass cases to try once I get the opportunity. Hopefully, later this Spring.rjohns94 wrote:Buffalo arms sells 20 for $49

Hi, John Boy. Hmm, I wonder if it would be made by Hertenberger or by RWS? Be interesting to know. I think you're right, though, availability will probably be like cold Mollases on a frosty morning!!John Boy wrote: Nitro, very few folks know about Chaparrel, Italy supposing to be send 45-75 brass ONLY made in Germany to the US. Hobie, I like your website and have nosed around quite a bit. Good work on lots of topics. I'm really looking forward to shooting my 45-75 but, as mentioned earlier, some medical problems are keeping me from it right now.Hobie wrote:With the Euro so strong against the dollar right now, I'm not anticipating a great price on that ammo (and it will likely delay importation) but of course I'll have to try a box... I'm interested in "Triple Seven" loads for mine and would like more detailed information on it's use with the 45-75. I see TenX loads some with 777 but doesn't say much about the loading. I know they are way backordered at this time, too.
Terry
Well, we both know about the same about loadings of 777. I'm not a fan of it having seen interesting things happen with muzzleloaders. But, if that's your thing... I prefer Pyrodex as it is a known quantity and others' experiences bear out what I would expect, namely that Pyrodex RS produces velocities nearly identical to those produced by GOEX 2F. There are a number of us working on loads with certain smokeless powders and different bullets.
Sincerely,
Hobie
