Nancy is applying for a job that requires Secret clearance. She's trying to figure out exactly which govt. NAC form and how to fill it out. She does not have anyone to walk her through it and instructions are scarce to non-existant.
Can anybody help?

Re: OT - which form for NAC Secret?
The agency with the job should provide her with the necessary information and their forms. I don't know about now (I've been through all of them... ) but they used to be DOD forms and I imagine different (if only slightly and with the agency header) forms come from different agencies/departments such as DOD, State, DOE etc...Tycer wrote:Nancy is applying for a job that requires Secret clearance. PS - I think the DOD form is DD From 1879. http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/te ... 67&idno=32 is the link to DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE PERSONNEL SECURITY PROGRAM REGULATION Subpart K—Program Management gives some specifics. Looks like you need the 1879 and 398 and/or 398-2...

The company I work for has a security officer (not the mall cop kind) that takes care of all that. When I applied the application was about 12 pages. I believe it is all done on line now. At least at our company.

When they hire her they should have her come in and fill out all the paperwork. Start having her gather all of her personal info for the past 15-years -- addresses, family names, dates of births, places of births, past employers,.

She's a private contractor with her own business. She may never actually meet the person hiring her.Modoc ED wrote:When they hire her they should have her come in and fill out all the paperwork. I work for Boeing, and since 911 it's taking us 18 months to get a secret clearance on a new applicant. Most folks that have a clearance are ex-military, which makes things easier.
If the applicant is squeaky clean, they may get an interim clearance fairly quickly.
The application is done electronically, and we have security folks who take care of this.
I can't imagine how low on the totem pole and how long it would take in your wife's case.

Again, the agency would likely provide the forms. I can't imagine one that would not.
