POLITICS - Scary City Folks

Thankfully another season's get together is past - so hard to hang with 'city' folks whose constant topic of conversation is what's wrong with the world, and how if we can only elect Hilary/Obama/Whoever and just raise taxes (of course only on 'the rich') and increase regulations, we'll make things right.

It's downright scary to see how many otherwise intelligent people think like that, and that they VOTE...

Scary indeed. I wonder what freedoms they would be willing to part with if it advanced their socialist utopia?

Not just City Folks now but the new landed gentry who are taking over the country as well

They don't want to have to LIVE in the Utopia, just create it and retire to the country.

Maybe we should raise taxes on everyone who is not a land owner for starters.

Big 10-4 on that. I was raised a country boy and have always lived away from people but then the farmers sold out their land (can't blame them) and a huge influx of yuppies moved in with their 5000 sq. ft. houses and Volvos. Now they want sidewalks. If you go shopping in the area, the woman yuppies shop in fur coats. Their queer husbands have their little golf shirts and dockers on. They really think they are somethin'. My area was at one time 99% Republican ---now I think I'm the only one left.

They actually truly believe that people like I have in the picture below are doing the right thing----------------------Sixgun

The funny thing is, the socialists claim to be for the 'working poor' and yet the working poor and middle class I know ALL are anti-socialist. Most are Republican, because that's at least less of a 'statist, socialist' party right now than the Democrats. The only Democrats I see in great numbers ARE the wealthy, plus the freeloaders who vote for whoever gives them a handout. Trouble is, it's MY money(and yours) they are handing out...!

Thomas Sowell I believe called it the "Plantation Mentality" - where the all-knowing academic/white/urban Anointed Ones so graciously volunteer their wisdom and expertise so as to 'manage' our society and our lives.

They think nothing of 'recommending' we all must have the vaccinations THEY approve of, and we all must send our children to the public schools THEY find so grand, and so on... They not only think the rest of us are too stupid to make any of these decisions, but they assume they somehow have the RIGHT to dictate public policy to the rest of us who are not so degreed/enlightened/endowed with wisdom.

Hell, it ain't just city folks. I know a bunch of farmers that are suckling the government tit for farm subsidies and vote straight liberal democrat ticket every time they show up to the voting booth.

Government schools drill into our kids' heads that individuals are incapable of making decisions that are good for our communities and nation. When we delegate economic decisions to a central government, we are setting ourselves up for fascism. When we delegate social generosity to a central government, we are setting ourselves up for economic bankruptcy.

Big government is inherently incompatible with liberty and freedom. Unfortunately, we have gotten fat, dumb,and happy, and we don't care about those outdated ideals any more.
