My new Browning BLR stock is within specs.

Post by Tycer »

So I guess I have to keep it.
Browning offered to replace the entire gun with another not-hand-picked model if I send it to them if I can return my gun in as-new condition. I can't.
The bolt was getting hung up on the hammer when closing the action and it was beginning to dig a gouge in the hammer. Well, THAT'S no good, gotta lose that burr.....a little 1000 grit, a fine stone and some white rouge and voila, as slick as goose grease!

Looks like I'm going to try my hand at refinishing a mixed-grain walnut buttstock. I'm not a huge fan of checkered stocks anyway.

Kind regards,
Tycer

That's unfortunate! Midwest Gun Works sells a lot of BLR replacement stuff, if you're interested. Not exactly inexpensive, but they do have factory stuff. You might be able to sell the "old" one and recoup some $$$.

PS - mine is a bit, err, "distinguished" and could stand for a fitted pad and refinishing, so I'll be interested in your progress.
