Acu-rzr - Well Done

Post by Steve Redgwell »

Hi, my name is Steve Redgwell. I am the owner of 303british.com. I would like to pass on a "well done" to Paco for the work he's done on the Acu-rzr.

Briefly, I ordered one before Christmas. I was delighted that he took the time to send me a note explaining that my order was upgraded so that he could complete the order before Christmas. I wanted to make sure that everyone knew.

It works as advertised. Living in central Ontario, Canada, it's hard to get out to the range in the winter. The last couple of years have been more windy and snowy than the previous thirty. Nonetheless, I did get two chances to try some accurized bullets over the past six weeks.

I've only tried Blazers, Win Xperts, Dynapoints and Federal 36 gr. value pack bulk bullets but the groups did tighten up. More so with the lead bullets rather than the plated ones. I put a page up at my site describing the tool and will be publishing the results once the weather turns nicer. I'll be using a Henry pump and a CZ 452.

All the best.

Steve,

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for posting the review of Paco's tool on your site. In spite of being right in Paco's back yard ( Leverguns.com) I had never seen a pictorial review of his tool. I didn't understand the mechanics of it's use. Therefore I was a bit wary of buying one. Now that I've seen your article I understand it a bit more.

As the owner of a 1943 vintage No 4 Mk 1* I'm going to be reading your site from top to bottom. There are a few things I'd like to do to mine to help it out.

Thanks again.

Joe

If someone else doesn't (or hasn't already) post a pictures-of-targets type review of the device, I may do so this summer. I think it is a cool device, and can't wait to really use mine. It is clearly well-made. I thought about making a little 'press' out of wood scraps to help me uniformly process the rounds in it, but it seems pretty easy to get the hang of doing it just using a hammer (actually, I use an old hatchet handle, just like I did for my Lee Classic Loader years ago). I have some rounds just waiting for the next bench-day.

Hi Joe, thanks for the greetings.

I put up that page because some friends on another forum were discussing the tool but no one actually knew how it worked. I said that it was easy enough to find out, and ordered one.

It appears to uniform the diameter and probably reduces or eliminates runout - especially with the bulk bullets. I think that this is why the cheaper bullets shoot better, but not affect the performance of the expensive stuff. Tolerances are much tighter on the premium 22LR cartridges.

Truthfully, for the price you pay for Lapua or Eley cartridges, they better be just about perfect coming out of the box!

Steve I must say I have enjoyed your site for years. Most of what I have learned about the Enfield has come from your site.
I must say I really enjoyed your write up on the Acu-rzr.

Thanks Jeremy. The site has come a long way since the beginning.

When I first put it up, there were two or three other 303 sites - the gun and knife forum, Skip Stratton's site and Parallax Bills. Few people really knew much about the Lee Enfield. As the Internet grew, it seems that everyone is an expert now. I've been working on others things as well, the last couple of years.
