Every since I first heard about the Charles Daly Little Sharps from the Gunblast.com Shot Show 2008 report I've been very interested in hearing more about them.
I read Mr. Quinn's review on Gunblast.com(I love Gunblast) of the rifle and have also read a few other reviews about the Little Shaprs in some gun mags.
Just wondering if any of you that own one would give your 2 cents. I'm not looking for a tack driver and it doesn't need to be as nice as a high end American Sharps rifles. I've always wanted a Sharps but I basically shoot offhand only and the size and weight of a Sharps is just too much. Plus I don't reload..at least not yet so 45-70 ammo would be outrageously expensive if shooting factory loads.
So for those that own one has the Little Sharps been...
Accurate?
Reliable?
Any misfires?
How's the fitting?
Trigger?
Handling characteristics?
I'd be interested in the .357 Magnum for general shooting 100 yards or less.
Thanks for your time.
Any experience with the Charles Daly Little Sharps?

I thought one might be nice in a 38-55 but looking at the cost, and reading some of the troubles folks that have got them are having, the Winchester highwalls, the uberti 85's, and the C Sharps 75 models are a better buy I'm thinking.

I haven't done any serious reading on these yet, what issues are showing up?Don McDowell wrote:I thought one might be nice in a 38-55 but looking at the cost, and reading some of the troubles folks that have got them are having, the Winchester highwalls, the uberti 85's, and the C Sharps 75 models are a better buy I'm thinking.
If these walls could talk, I'd listen to the floor.
Re: Any experience with the Charles Daly Little Sharps?
There was some lever spring breakage, and someone had an issue with the firing pin dragging the primers and case heads.
Some of em were grousing about the length of pull being pretty short.

LOP It's 3/4 size, it's suppose to be shorter, around 13 inches if I remember right. The firing pin won't drag if you 1/2 cock first. In 30-30 the rifle is a real shooter, but since it weigs a little less than a M94 I would not want one in say 38-55. he gun is drilled and tapped for the Malcom style scope and so fat i have handled 5 and had no spring breakage, but that is a problem with any imported gun.

KCSO,
Do you like how it handles? Are the sights user friendly?

Apparently that wasn't the case in the one example I read about. I can't remember if it was on CAS City , 24 hr or one of the others, there's been a couple or 3 pretty good discussions on these neat lookin lil buggers.KCSO wrote: The firing pin won't drag if you 1/2 cock first.

Lever spring's are just a problem of the Sharps design, depends on whether or not the guy making the springs knows what he's doing or not, on how much trouble breakage will be.
