OT - Small boy, big gun

My middle son John at Springfield Armory before the National Park Service took it over. Back then (ca 1971) you could wander around the displays unhindered, and play with some of the larger pieces to a certain extent. Here he's checking out a
37mm Maxim gun - the famed "pom-pom" gun which the Boers used to devastating effect against the "rooineks" ( a derisive
nickname the Boers gave their English foe ( rooinek = "red neck" - burned by the veldt sun).

What a great picture Mike! Wouldn't it be nice if things hadn't changed at Springfield Armory?
