Uberti 73 carbine buttplate ?

Post by Malamute »

Do the current Uberti 73 carbines have the trapdoor in the buttplate for the cleaning rod? I had a couple many years ago that had the door. Would like to get one of the Uberti buttplates for a Winchester carbine if they have the door.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

I believe the current ones don t.I have an early Uberti carbine that has the door in the butt and also has the front sight mounted on the barrel. The later models have the fron t sight mounted on the barrel band and no trapdoor in butt.I believe they changed it as a cost cutting measure.

barbarssa, your carbine sounds like the one I had, mine was made in the 1970s.
I noticed the correct front sight on yours and was curious about the butt plate.
By the way the dealer must have sold mine, as it is no longer listed.

If your gun was proofed in Italy it should have a two or three letter mark stamped near the proof marks. These letters indicate what year the gun passed proof, I have an incomplete list from 1954 to 2005 if you see the series of letters let me know and I might be able to give you the age of your gun.
