POLITICS - The problem with giving up our guns

Post by Fungus Sam »

When the Cambrian measures were forming,
They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons,
that the wars with the tribes would cease.

But when we disarmed, they sold us
and delivered us bound to our foes,
and the gods of the Copybook Heading
said, "Stick to the devil your know."

Rudyard Kipling: The Gods of the Copybook Heading, circa 1902

Like Chinese water torture, the anti-gun proponents keep trying to take away our gun rights, even as our cities become overrun with gangs (tribes) and gang violence. Gun registration laws, ammo restrictions, ignoring the Constitution's second amendment all serve to deliver law-abiding citizens over to the lawless criminals of this nation. I find it very interesting that so many prominant leaders of the past advocated the idea that a well-armed society is a polite society. Tom

Fungus, it's also good to keep in mind that the .gov ignores the 10th Amendment and has thus grown into the overbearing menace it currently has become as a result.

The Founding Fathers knew what it was all about and in my opinion covered just about every probable angle of how human's behaved when given power based on their extensive knowledge and experience. They succinctly crafted the Constitution in simple to understand language without all the BS stuff that our current lawmakers seem so inclined to add to legislation they introduce in this modern day and age.

Kipling seemed to be a keen observer of both his
surroundings and the current social commentary;
which in the case hasn't changed much in a hundred
years.

Giving up guns.

I'm not giving up mine. The day they ask for them is the day I get in my Sail boat and leave.
