OT - David Spade gives money to Phoenix police
David Spade gave $100,000 to the Phoenix police to buy rifles. I'm not sure if that's the public's responsibility, but I've got to give him kudos for doing something that most in Hollywood would frown upon.

Thumbs up Spade.

If you Google him you will find out that a shotgun under his bed once saved his life.
He has also given $25,000 to a cops widow if I remember correctly.
I'm changing my view of the guy based on these things he's done for law enforcement!

Re: OT - David Spade gives money to Phoenix police
He was "Joe Dirt" He's a comedian/actor.
Deerwhacker, you're right, it's not he public's responsibility. Most departments will allow the rifles but officers must purchase them themselves. A decent rifle with a good light and optics will run over $2000. For new cops just starting out, that's a big investment, but a necessary one. In Ca. it's still a pain to get one even for LE work.
Civic groups often donate to PD's, usually a K9 or tactical equipment that some small agencies can't afford. It sure is a generous act.

How cool!
I would have never guessed that in a million years! Just shows once again you can not judge a book by it's cover...

I hope it doesn't cause him problems later on. After John Voight came out with a very conservative statement some time back a big name Hollywood producer said he'd never work for him again.
