Lever Scout Rifle Pic's Please
I know guys have posted pics here and there of rifles set up with scout scopes, but would as many as are so inclined please post pic's here in one location. Even the shotgun scoped rifles that sit in front of the hammer so a spur is not required. Has anyone done one with a Ching sling? Pics please. Forward mounted Red dots would be fine to. It would be appreciated. Details would be nice to.

Re: Lever Scout Rifle Pic's Please
Heres my Marlin XLR 45-70 cut to 20". It has a Leupold scout scope(2.5x28) and XS sights. I'm not good at photos but it has a limbsaver pad also.

Re: Lever Scout Rifle Pic's Please
Here is a Marlin 1895 Guide Gun, XS scout mount, XS ghost rings, Leupold 2.5x Scout Scope, Leupold QRW rings, Butler Creek flip-up scope covers.

This is my then eight year old son with his mule deer and a Marlin M336W with the same basic setup as above except it has a Simmons ProHunter 2x pistol scope and a Fulton Armory adjustable cheek rest on it.

Here is the same boy the year before, just before he turned seven, with the same rifle except it has a cheap read dot mounted on the scout rail. I don't recommend cheap red dots!!

Here's my 450 Marlin. Working on a 336 in 35 Rem. for a Christmas present for our yougest. He loves my 450 but it's just
too much for him.
I have a 10/22 scout too but no photo.

When using gloves, the 'regular' levers are so tight, but I never have seen the sense in hula-hoop sized levers other than if you want a wall-hanger for beside your John Wayne posters.cas wrote:Lever rail.
I really like the mid-size "tear-drop" levers on that gun - where do you get them?
Are they 'gunsmith' jobs to install, or just plug-and-play for us dummies...?

I'm pretty confident this is the only Win 1886 with a scout scope that you will see pictured here:
Caliber 45-70; Scope - Leatherwood Hi-Lux 2X7X32; mount - Wild West 2 slot weaver base; rings - Leupold QR

Re: Lever Scout Rifle Pic's Please
My lever is a DRC (Dave Clay) model. It's "drop in."
The rail is an XS "Lever Rail". The one in the picture I modified so I could still use my DRC protected sight.

Re: Lever Scout Rifle Pic's Please
Wow. Nice guns guys. Thank you for the pics. Pete44ru what was the problem with the Leupold and Burris. Is it the shorter action of the 94?
Re: Lever Scout Rifle Pic's Please
reo - All Marlin Model 1894's are not "Model 94's", a handle generally applied to Winchester Model 94's - which is a long actioned rifle, originally designed for long cartridges, and only much later in it's history adapted for pistol-length short cartridges.
Marlin M1894's are all short-actioned, designed from the get-go for pistol-length cartridges - whether they're 1890 to early 1900's first generation issue, or 1970's to present second generation.
I found the scopes marketed as "Scout" models by Burris & Leupold to be too limiting for me, with regards to brightness and field of view - much preferring the Weaver, after trying other pistol scopes also. YMMV.
It turned out to be only a slight expense for me to find out by trial & error - as I sold the barely used scopes for only a few bucks less than I paid ( I had bought them all new, at a deep discount).
The switching/testing was worth the effort, to me - as I didn't know what I was missing, until I actually tried each.

86er, I like your sense of something with that rifle - don't know what to call that something but that is a truly distinctive rifle. Did it come out of your own imagination?
