Winnie questions: Angle Eject, Safeties, Rebounding Hammer

Post by raven5 »

When exactly did Winchester start with the angle eject? Was it a certain year, started at a certain serial number (or there abouts), or dependent on caliber/model?

What about the rebounding hammer, crossbolt safety, and tang safety?

This is what I have. I don't know how accurate it is, but my Win 94AE Trapper matches this time line:
Rebounding hammer introduced 1981
Angle Eject introduced 1983
.45 Colt Trapper model introduced 1985
Hammers drilled and tapped for offset extension introduced 1986
Bull barrels introduced for Trappers 1991
Link pin retaining screw returns in 1991
Cross bolt safety introduced 1992
Tang safety introduced 2004
Mdl 94, 70 and 1300 discontinued March 2006
Winchester actually become USRAC (United States Repeating Arms Corp) about 81 or so and USRAC used the Winchester name under license from Olin.

Thanks much.

I don't mind the angle eject so much, but hate the dern safeties.

Joe,

You're saying ALL angle eject (AE) 94s have a rebounding hammer?

Nope, not saying that at all, just repeating information. That's why I put the comment: "I don't know how accurate it is, ..... snip" in my lead line.
This information came from OD several years ago and I don't know if it's been updated since.
However I've never seen an AE model without the rebounding hammer.
