I have one. No problem with the lever throw, accuracy or reliability. However, the lever takes too much force to close the last 1/8" or so in order for it to fire. I believe it is some kind of safety.
I notice that Brownells has a couple of small springs for the lever (at a pretty high price). There is no detail on what they are supposed to do, though. Does anyone here know if replacing those springs will reduce the force needed to close the last bit of lever throw? I don't mind paying what is asked if it will solve my problem, but I would be a little bit upset if I paid that and it did NOT fix the problem. If the springs are not for this problem, how do I get it right?

It could be the extractor snapping over the rim.

I'd suspect you're refering to the trigger block that's there to force the shooter to fully close the lever to prevent the gun firing before the breechbolt's fully forward.
I had the spring on mine adjusted, it just took too much effort to fully close the lever & hold it that way to pull the trigger.
A reduced power trigger block spring would do the same thing.

There are a bunch of guys over there who have fixed this problem.
I just dont remember how they did this ....
You might even want to install a short stroke...which cuts the
travel of the lever up to around 3"..I have the same problem on both
of my uberti 73s...

Sounds like DPris has the problem right. The Brownells thing is called "Lifter/Lever Springs & Screws" "Don't be afraid to tackle action jobs on the Uberti '60, '68, and '73 Winchester clones. These direct replacement lifter and lever spring sets are made from music wire. Completely eliminates gouged lever and lifter cam surfaces." "$48.00"
I am not interested in the short stroke. The local club I will be joining doesn't allow them. I am in eastern Nebraska.
