Barrel shortened on a marlin 1894 ???

Post by Grizzzly »

Could I have the barrel shortened on a marlin 1894 or 1894SS to a 16" trapper style length ? I like the 1894SS but I want the shorter barrel for tight cover hunting. Thanks,John

Why not? Perfectly feasible. Just shorten the mag. tube as well. Keeps things symmetrical. 1886.

If you shorten the barrel and tube, be sure to shorten the tube from the rceiver end. That way you can keep the factory holes and end looking original.

I've got a lever I'm gonna do it to. It'll be a .45, modified for the Cowboy .45 Special, with a 16.25" BBL (and with the short rounds, it'll still hold 10) There was a special run of .45 16"ers about 10 years ago. real nice guns.

Grizzzly.... oh yes, the 16" Trappers are my favorite lever rifles. No reason why you can't create one if you can't find one.

Last time I was looking, they were really difficult to find. I'm guessing that's still the case. Marlin did a special run through Davidsons of 16" 1894 stainless trappers with silver/black wood stocks and colored fiber optic sights about four or five years ago.... awesome little rifles, really cool looking too. I was able to get one in .357 mag and one in .44 mag. Dang I missed the .45 Colt version, though. I sure love 'em!

Another option is the 18.5" 1894C in .357 magnum if that would be short enough for you. I've got one of those too and it handles really nicely, just not quite as short and cool as a Trapper though.
