Peep sight for Win 94....

Post by Hankster »

Sold off my 308 mauser...and am going strictly BP and Leverguns for deer from now on. Bummer is, the ole eyes don't work too well with the old open sights anymore, and I find a scope on a levergun sacreligious! My Marlin 39M has a Lyman R'cvr sight on it and I do real well with a "peep" style sight. Drives tacks! On this 70's Mdl 94 30-30....Am thinking same or Williams foolproof....or the Lyman TANG sight. Any opinions on pros and cons of each???? Money being what it is, I only want to buy one!!!! Any good "field intel" is appreciated! Thanks...

Just buy the Williams FP, install it and you're done. Your 70's vintage 94 is already drilled and tapped for the sight. Efficient, reliable, durable, and out of the way.
I don't like tang sights because they are in my way. They interfere with my grip on the stock, and they are TOO close to my eye.

What Joe said +1

I do own 4 Marbles tang sight equiped rifles though. They are great for target shooting but for hunting the receiver mounted is the way to go IMHO. :D

I agree, but I needed to put a smaller aperature on mine to shoot groups. With the larger one that came on it from the factory, I was all over the place.
