What Marlin stocks interchange??

Post by Mich Hunter »

Here is my problem. I picked up a older pre-safety 94 Marlin in 44 mag. It has the straight grip buttstock. I no more had it for one day and I dropped it butt first oon my drive way. Well the dang stock cracked in half length wise. I am now in the market for a new stock, but they are not easy to find. My question is, will a 1895 straight stock, 336 straight stock fit the pre safety 94's ??? It might be easier to find one if it will work

I think all the straight stocks are interchangable. I put a straight stock off an 1895 on my 1894 and it fit perfectly.

I would continue the search for a new stock. However, in the mean time I would pull the stock of and repair it with wood glue and set wooden dowl pins. I am also looking for another Marlin 94 stock to shorten as a youth stock so that I can let my daughter use it for deer season.

Ditto what Hobie said! They have new stocks cheap, but they will be checkered most likely. Might find a set they have lying around that isn't though.

As a woodworker, I would probably not use wood glue. I would use a good two part marine epoxy. I would use it and clamp it for 24 hours. I would use that time to contact Marlin about a new stoch.
In the meantime I would shoot it without reservation. That epoxy is good stuff.
