Post by cworetired »

I have a Marlin CL 25-20 that I am looking for a source of cast bullets to start reloading for. Anyone like to share some info on where to get some? Thanks all

There are several 25-20 shooters on this forum, and they talk about some good loads so I know some will be getting back to you soon.

Meister sells hard cast for $39 per 500, or even cheaper per 1,000.

I bought 1000 of these a couple years ago from Midway on closeout for $28. :D
Haven't tried them yet, but I think someone on this site did and couldn't get them to shoot that great. I've got a CL also that I was going to try them in.

I've had bad leading with plain base cast boolits in my 25-20. Gas checks solved that problem.

I've got a pair of Marlin's in 25-20 . Ones a 1894CL and the other is an original 1894 of 1902 vintage .

I cast my own bullets for both these rifles .

At the moment I am very partial to the Lyman 257420 and 257312 molds . The 420 is a 65 grain gas check and the 312 is an 88 grain gascheck . They both shoot pretty darned good in both my rifles !

Also Ranch Dog is working on a 259-85GC bullet that I should be able to give some insight on fairly soon !

Last bunch I picked up was at a gun show. I have an original 1892 that I purchased from HF Cable here on the forum. Haven't reloaded them yet, but plan to around the holidays.
