32 high power special?

Post by jsub »

Friend of mine pointed out a couple of 1893 Marilins on Gunbroker in 32 HPS. I searched this sight & found what HPS stands for, but I still don't know what it is. Neither on of us have heard of this caliber. Can someone enlighten us please?

32 Special with no Winchester in the name. Like 38-40 or 25-36 you got to go the competition one better.

Marlin couldn't stamp their guns with proprietary Winchester cartridge designations, hence the different names for the same cartridge. In other words, no WCF. An example would be the .40-65 WCF, which Colt and Marlin called .40-60 M. Funny how that worked. :)

Thanks for the info. We thought it maybe that, but we weren't sure. I picked up a 64 win in 32 special @ Tulsa Sunday with a Lyman peep and its a good shooter.
