OT Humor - Slobbering for Dinner

Post by AJMD429 »

Got home tired and late, and en route wife called me and asked my ETA, and mentioned she was cooking some Delicata squash. Yum...

Get home, warm house, smell of cooking, finish some paperwork, and drooling.

Go downstairs, get to the kitchen, and wife tasting the squash before final touches.

I guess gourds can hybridize with squash; somehow it was the most bitter, nasty stuff you can imagine! We fed it to the chickens, along with the nice butter and spices she'd added...

Oh well, rice and canned salmon was the backup plan.

Some varieties of squash are very quick to cross pollinate. One of the worst is the Seminole Pumpkin which grows here in Fla.

Now, if I can just convince her persimmons are actually good for pudding, muffins, bread, and cookies, instead of feeding THEM to the chickens, maybe we'll make some progress! I can't cook worth a darn, and she hated the first persimmon pudding she tasted, so over the years I've picked and bought persimmons and pulp, and it's all gone bad and become chicken food before I could persuade her to try making it into something.

At least persimmons don't look like gourds.
