Getting ready for some Hog hunting

Post by meanc »

Getting ready for some hog hunting next week, so I'll be heading out to the range tomorrow morning to sight in what I'll be using.

I've decided to use the 44mags first and then the 45colts.

44s, a Trapper and Ruger SuperBlackhawk, will be carried with a Rem 240gr JSP over 20.5gr of 2400.

45s, an 1894CB limited and Ruger Blackhawk, will have a 250gr XTP over 20gr of 2400.

Here's a pic of the 44 combo.

Hopefully, come the middle of the week, I'll have some ribs a smokin. Wish me luck :)

We do seem to have a ridiculous number of hogs around the middle of this state. Not the ultra-huge ones they get sometimes in Georgia or Alabama but still ... they're everywhere. You've got the right pieces for the job though. Good luck to you.

The load in the trapper ought to dump Mr. Porky right on his butt :D :D

Good luck on the hunt.

Thanks guys.

Well, I made it to the range with the four I plan on hunting with.

The levers were grouping around an 1" at 75yds pretty easily. The Rugers at 25yds were around 2". So I'm pretty happy with those.

The bad thing is I forgot about the "first nine days" rule down here in Florida. Image

Got to have a quota permit. Then after the initial nine days, the WMA opens to everyone.
Oh well, that'll give me time to catch up on some reloading.

I like using a combo with the same ammunition in the pistol and rifle. Hope you have success.
