It's so much fun, because she gets just as tickled, and wound up over a 2yr old like this one as she does those monster 6's , her and that lil gun have laid out cold.
My P-17 loves that bullet over a snort of Win 760 in '06 brass. I've never worked up the courage to try it on elk. Maybe some year I'll get a chance... Thanks for sharin'!

Hobie, she shoots those things in our south pasture usually, one year tho she shot one up behind the barn I usually go to the mtns to hunt real elk, course we've usually got hers in the freezer by then so my trip is just a simple excercise in decompressing a bit. Altho this year after the heart attack going about 9200 ft was a bit tougher than usual......
Paul I use that bullet in my 06 and to date haven't found an elk that can hold one in its ribcage at 200 yds and under.

I can get one hole groups at 100 yards with that bullet and load. I had a bunch loaded up, but chickened out at the last minute because of all the stories of "I shot it 10 times with an XMag and it walked off as if nothing" that I'd heard. Bought one box of factory 180's checked sights and shot a five point at around 200-250 yards or so. The 165 would have killed it just as dead if I'd hit it in the same place. Took it just at the bottom of the spine right above the heart (it's hard to hold steady when your lungs and heart are pumping like crazy) and he dropped right there. That was 10 years ago up SE of Craig, CO. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to try it again. Or maybe I'll just try the old obsolete 94 Winchester in 30 WCF.

Well we have had to graduate from the wall tent and sleeping bag to the camper or motorhome when we go to the mtns to hunt. She doesn't like to hunt up high anymore, so doesn't go very often.
But she sure gets her jollies a murderin these innocent lil elk just tryin to eak out a livin off of her windbreak trees, and my alfalfa.
We sort of got in a hurry, we were supposed to be on our way to the neighbors to help work some cows, and process some calves. Purt neart forgot to take a picture.
