Levergunitis, It's a sickness.

Post by arjunky »

Bought this Friday.
How many 30/30's would be considered enough. :?:

Won this one today.
I had to buy this one, ammo, dies, bullets and brass were already in stock and no gun.

Resistance is futile.

You got that right, I'm an equal opportunity buyer. Never been known for making a lot of sense in my gun purchases. :)

Why bother? I try to stay somewhat focused on my collecting, but when a good deal is available, it's a sin to pass it up!

As long as you don't destroy your relationships, fail to meet financial obligations, and so forth I suppose it is ok. Now, look at who you're talking to! Yeah, this gang will help you out.

I have a Rossi 65 just like the one you bought, also in 44-40. And what a shooter it is.
Mine shoots the best with 240 gr. SWC's. And shoots very well with Nosler 200 gr. RNFP.

I have a newer model in 44 mag., the 44-40 is much more accurate at 100 yards.

Have fun, that piece would have followed me home also.

One can not have too many Lever Guns.

BTW, you will now be, if not already, susceptible to singleactionitis, shotgunoma, and the worst thing, smithsonian syndrome where you try to buy everything you see for sale.

I would love to see marlin come out with a .308 Mag in lever action. That would be cool!!!. I guess one could say that would be close to a 30-06.

I have to agree with you about them being a sickness. I started out with a Western Auto 117 (Mossberg 402) .22 as a project gun. It just felt good in my hands but needed some refinishing work on the woodwork. That started the bug, this past weekend I picked up 2 more leverguns. The first on is a Henry H001 and the second is a Marlin 1894 in .44 Remington Magnum. Is there a group meeting or a medication day for the sickness?
I think that I would like to pick up a .22 WMR, any suggestions on the best model(s) to look at? Thanks in advance, Skip

I love my 94/22 mag, one of the older ones from the 70's. Shoots under 1 1/2" at 100yds all day long with Winchester JHP's and Predator JHP's. Bought it beat up and parkerized it.

I've been working on pairs. 22, 22 mag, 357, 44 mag, 45 colt and now 44/40 in rifles and pistols.
Haven't found the right 30/30 pistol though. :D

At least you're working towards a good collection of levers! No such thing as too many of them until you outgrow the house! Just like kids, you need to add a room for them!

I know its only a single-shot but it sounds like you need a T/C with a 30-30 barrel. My dad had one once and liked to never put it down

Let's see... 25 .25-35s, 30 .30-30s, 32 .32-40s, & 38 .38-55s would be a nice start! But... then again, that may be a little over the top!

I seen that first one and passed cause I'm broke. A real beauty of a rifle at a darn good price, I'm glad someone here got it.

I know they made derringers in 30/30's also.
Didn't they make a BFR at one time :?:

As a surgeon, I can state you can live a long life with some sicknesses.

I've had these 40 years - 10 years longer than i've had my wife -

And she gave me this one for our 25th anniversary -

Some sicknesses can be lived with, treated right!!!

I can't talk. I own a Marlin .41 mag, a Marlin LTD II 45-70, and an older Browning BLR 7mm08. I'm so broke that I just put a sweet, near mint, Marlin 30-30 with the stickers still on the smooth walnut stock, in layaway for 60 days at a local pawnshop. I couldn't pass it up for $199, it was too nice.
