Not-so-new Guy Is Back
In some past life I was known as Deputy Al, but the slings and arrows of keyboard cop bashers (not here) convinced me to submerge that moniker and choose one a little more generic and less inflammatory.
Good to be back, still levergunning and six-shooting as much as ever--and moved to a more gun-friendly area of California. Hard to imagine, but I found a town here in the People's Republic where the vice-mayor owns & operates a very well-stocked gun shop. The range is 8 miles from my doorstep, goes to 600 yards and is never crowded. There is a very active CAS group locally, and I cut the distance to Sierra Nevada trout fishing in half. LOVIN' IT!

So, welcome back, I can just about guess the identity of that other site. None of that krapp here, for sure. Where is that 600 yard range you mentioned?

Re: Not-so-new Guy Is Back
Thanks kindly for the warm "Welcome Back", gents.
J.N., the range is operated by the gun shop mentioned above, it is a few miles southeast of Inyokern. Family membership is $25/year. It has metal impact plates at 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 600 yards, plus berms to set up paper targets with T-posts asd cardboard. Your own metal targets are welcome, and you can drive onto the range after assuring that the line is "cold".

Re: Not-so-new Guy Is Back
Congratulations on your new friendly location.
Once you are out of the metropolis, things aren't quite so anti-gun here in "Kahleefornia" (Governer's pronunciation.)
Now, do your part to help keep California condor free.

They should just let those poor buzzards die with dignity, and join the now-extinct megafauna the condors dined upon 10,000 years ago.otteray wrote:Now, do your part to help keep California condor free.
