Peep Sight Hole Spacing

Post by jsub »

I purchased a 1894 Winchester on gunbroker that appeared to be d & t for a receiver peep sight. However, the holes about 3/16" wider than the standard spacing. Were there ever any other sights with non spec hole spacing?

The simple answer. It may have been D&T'd for a sight not designed for the M.94 that the gunsmith had in his inventory.

Measure and compare to available sights for say, Marlins... or even mausers, etc...

Or, fabricate you're own - basically, a bent piece of steel that you can mount an Williams WRG or XS sight on would work great.

Thanks for the info. Since the sight will work with one of either hole, I think I will just D & T another - the sight covers both & won't show the third hole.

 Well,.............It's your gun, but.........since the sight covers the holes, I'd drill the sight for the errant hole (either one) and fill any visible empty hole in the sight body by epoxying in a screwhead, instead of swiss-cheesing the rifle.

Good answer. Much better than another hole in your receiver IMHO.
