OT-1974 made Browning BAR 338

Post by AkRay »

I know this isn't a lever action, but there is a wide range of knowledge here. This would be a Grade 1 BAR in .338 Win Mag. Condition is 97% or so, with nice wood, and the rifle has iron sights and 2 magazines. What is a good real world price for this rifle? I'm a potential buyer, not a seller. Thanks.

Depending on condition $500-$650 would be fair.

I'd jump all over it at $600 or so. I used to have one like the one you describe and it was one bad mutha. I had a thing for the .338 for a while and owned three of them - a BAR, a BBR and a Ruger 77. It's one of my favorite cartridges; Elmer Keith got me started with some of his articles on the various .33 calibers.

I'd suggest you go to your library & grab the Modern Gun Values book. BTW, that rifle sounds like a real HUMDINGER! jd45
