Hey Guys-
I wanted to share a couple pics of my leverguns. I know it's never a good idea to display firearms but I like the option of seeing and enjoying these while I am not out plinking. The case is lagged to the wall in four spots, the glass is shatter-proof, and there are two locks to keep the kids out.
The carbine on top is a Winchester Model 1892 in 38-40 (1926). The one on the bottom is my BATF registered 14-inch Trapper (1919). It is also a Model 1892 but it's chambered in 44-40.
Anyway I wanted to share these... I am very proud of them. Although it shows me as my first post I guess what that proves more than anything is how long I have been away from the Levergun forums. I was here avidly several years ago... I hope this signifies a triumphant return
P.S. The last picture, shown above, is my insurance policy on these fine Winchesters. You can never be too careful
Regards,
Matt-

Very nice brace of '92s! and beautifully displayed, too!

Man, you got the toys! After all, the guy who dies with the most toys is the winner! I just gotta ask on the '92's--they look real nice and of the several dozen trappers I have seen in my collecting career, I have never seen one with more than 15 or 20% original finish. Are they original. I see the 92 src has the typical gumwood stock of the era.
And the 44 WCF "yellow label" box sure is a rarity. Is the 60 a Maremont?-----------------------Sixgun

Hey Sixgun-
Both of these guns were restorations. My father bought both in Paraguay back when we lived there in the early 70's. The Trapper was extremely rough. My gunsmith told me it was in "dug up" condition. The 38-40 had been reblued previously and the barrel was pitted. I can't explain it other than to say that I felt some sentimental value to these firearms. The 38/40 I carried as a young man on many camping trips. I have shot it a bunch but felt that so long as I was redoing the Trapper that I would run the 38-40 through the same treatment. So... I made the decision to spend a small fortune to make these both good again. They're part of our family's "story" in a way and our family has a finite number of items that would classify as "heirlooms".
As for the M-60 it's demilled. I am not sure I wanted to spend $25K for a firing example. The yellow Winchester box is made of playdough. Just kidding It's original and has all 50 cartridges. That wasn't free either.
