WAY OT: storing vegetables

Post by 3leggedturtle »

Have access to alot of cabbage and peppers how long will they keep in fridge? How would you keep them in long term storage?

Chop and freeze the peppers. Make kraut with the cabbage. It's easy.
Kind regards,

Cabbage can be kept for quite some time if it kept out of the light and packed away in soft dirt or sand and kept dry and cool. Peppers can be dried if done right and/or pickled and put up. I have seen some will take clean plastic containers and put cabbage in them and cover it with sugar sand and keep it cool such as in a cellar. Light, heat and moisture are the spoilers. Peppers can be dried, smoked (until dry) and kept dry, in the dark and of course somewhat cool. ATB

I once had a peck of pickled peppers, some guy picked them, I can't remember who.
