OT - The "Big Fifty" Sharps by Elmer Keith - A/R Jun 1940

Post by airedaleman »

While cleaning up, I came across two American Rifleman magazines that are about as old as I am. One was from April 1939
(a month before I was born) and the other from June 1940. At any rate, the June 1940 issue has an extensive article by Elmer on the big Sharps rifles, larded with anecdotes and loading data; it's four pages long, set in double column small type (people didn't need a lot of of graphic design back then) and I think is a great read. I can't scan it, but if anyone would like a copy, PM me your name and address and I'll be happy to mail you a xerox copy of the article.

Also, watch for some classifieds from these magazines. Strong men will weep...

Mike, I'll take you you up on your offer, and will mail you a copy of the article as soon as I can.
To all those who have already requested a copy, hang on. As soon as I can get all the copies made, they'll be sent out.
Thanks for your interest, and I hope you all get some enjoyment from the article. I met Keith a couple of times at the first SHOT Show back in January of '79, but that's a whole " 'nother story."

Mike, let me know if you haven't gotten with the next day or two. I mailed it last week unfolded (thought it would scan better) in a large envelope. If it doesn't show up shortly, e-mail me and I'll send another copy along.
