700-X ("HI-SKOR 700-X") is made by IMR.

It's primarily a shotgun powder.

I've used it for a long time for CAS shotgun loads.

The only thing Ive found just a few moments ago is it is supposed to be a slow burning powder for shotguns and a good middle range for handguns . If I read all of that right.does that sound right?

Yep!

Works real good in my 12ga coach gun.

Haven't tried it in the sixguns.

Yup-shotgun powder that can be used in handgun. Check the older lyman manuals and the Lee modern handloading manual.

Imr "Hi-Skor 700x" (700x for short) is a FAST powder right up there with Bullseye. It works well in modest pistol loads or for target level loads in the 12GA (which is it's design use). I use lots of it with light bullets for CAS in my short .45 cases. The only own side to 700X is that it is kinda tough to meter in small doses as it is a flake powder. For stuff right on the ragged edge of low velocity, Bullseye is a better choice. Bumped up just a tad, 700X is great.

I checked the burning-rate chart in my 3rd Edition Vihtivuori reload manual & there's 9 powders between Bullseye & 700X, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're not right next to one another in their burn rate........they could all be in the same "ballpark", burn-ratewise. jd45

If you have a specific cartridge in mind, check out Hodgdon's online reloading manual, plenty of data.

IIRC, 700X is between Red Dot and Green Dot in burn rate.
