Could it possibly be a joke of some sort? Find it hard to believe a sporting goods retailer would promote that bastard. If it's for real then they will not get any more of my business either.

Hope they take lots of his money and get zero votes for his expense. That's likely about what will happen. Most of the "fooled" gun owners seem to be the type who wouldn't own the politically incorrect things Sportsmand Guide sells, so I don't think it will garner him any more votes.

I too think that email is suspect, just does not pass the smell test, I think maybe someone is pulling your chain. I just looked at their website, nothing of the sort to be seen there.

Rihmfire,

Are you sure it wasn't just on the website that provides your email?

I know on hotmail/yahoo/gmail etc... they often place advertisements in the same windows as the messages.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

Sportman's Guide was a publicly traded company which I had owned stock in. About 3 years ago the company was purchased by a French catalog conglomerate (that owns fashion catologs like Newport News, etc). I've noticed a shift to from surplus and firearms related items to clothing close-outs. I do have to say for the most part, the customer service has improved since the buy-out.

I get e-mails from them almost daily as well, but have never noticed this. Since I use a yahoo address for my personal e-mail, the "free" part comes with a price of having other ads alongside my e-mails. It might have been this - and they had no choice. I'd give them a call and ask for an explanation. If they say they did, tell them to drop you from their mailing list and why. If you take your business to Midway USA (who I patronize as well), but don't tell SPG why, you haven't made your point, and the move is simply not worth as much as it could be.

BTW, if this happens to me, that is exactly what I will do. Whenever possible, I refuse to do business with any entity that enables those determined to take away my rights and freedoms. But I always let them know - in polite, but in no uncertain terms - why they have lost my business. Hit them where it counts!!!

You must use web mail instead of a POP3 e-mail server. I get the e-mailed specials from them almost every other day (I'm a discount member) and there are no sponsoring ads in mine.
